The SELFish Page

Each blog has its own 'SELFish page', where it brags about how amazing it is. My blog is more humble. In fact, it's so humble that I interviewed myself and created a list of not-yet-Frequently not-yet-Asked Questions, which aim to tell you more about the blog.

WTF? (Why the finance?)

Baltinsky Financial is a product of a mature desire to share my personal opinion with the world. Finance is what I love and what I do, and so I hope my opinion on finance will count for some of you.

What will you write about?

This blog is not going to be hardcore financial and will definitely feature other topics as well. The reader may expect to see articles on politics, economics, philosophy and other things.

What principles guide this blog?

For now, I've laid the following principles for my articles: they should be high-quality, informative, interesting, and simple. This is not a news blog. The reason for this is that I'm into an extremely important time of my life, switching places all the time, finishing my other education, getting married and planning ahead, while trying to be active on the job market, you name it... In these conditions, it's challenging to keep track of the most current affairs. What I like doing instead is taking more general ideas and processing them. The result of so doing is hopefully going to be thoughtful articles with fine ideas.

Who is this blog's target audience?

Very ordinary people just like me, with some interest in finance.

Why has FOX ended House?

Frankly, I don't know... Wait, what?

How often will this blog publish new articles?

This is a sensitive question. I want you guys to come visit me every day and night, but I know I won't be able to sustain that. This is why I just can't promise some agreed on frequency. If you see that it's taking me a bit too long to update the blog, then probably I'm working on something extraterrestrially smart. I will take it as a rough guideline to hit you with a fresh and thoughtful article 2-3 times a month. To make sure you know exactly when my new post is out, you can submit your e-mail address into the side-bar on the right. That way you'll get all my posts delivered to you via e-mail. Finally, to make Baltinsky Financial a bit more interactive, I thought I'd use the extra line underneath 'Baltinsky Financial' to communicate something else.

What are the blog's plans for the future?

Development. I really want this to be a nice source for your reading. I'm hoping to attract some casual guest-writers to my blog to make it more exciting.

What's your background anyway?

My name is Ilya Baltinsky. I was born in Minsk, Belarus. Have a look on the map of Europe. Do you see Minsk? That's right. This is where I grew up and went to school. I then went to Central European University Business School, located in Budapest, Hungary, to get my Bachelor's of Business Administration there. After a couple of years, I went to Univesita Commerciale Luigi Bocconi, located in Milan, Italy, to study for another degree in International Economics, Management and Finance. After some time, I chose finance as my major. When I graduate, my diploma will say "...specialized in Finance." My professional experience includes work at Lufthansa Consulting, a major consultant to the aviation industry, where I was mainly occupied with financial analyses and forecasting.

I'm a citizen of Belarus. In fact, I'm such a proud citizen that I'll throw a sentence in Belarusian language at you right now. Гэта сказ на беларускай мове, найпрыгажэйшай i наймiлагучнай ува ўсiм свеце, самай роднай, але, на жаль, такой нераспаўсюджанай нават сярод братоў-беларусаў.

Any words of wisdom?
